RIO DE JANEIRO, March 21 (Xinhua) -- Brazil will return to the IndyCar calendar in 2015 after officials made a deal Friday to stage the event in capital Brasilia.
Government officials confirmed the race will be staged at the Nelson Piquet International Autodrome until 2019.
"This is a victory not only for Brasilia but for all motor racing fans in Brazil and the world," Brazil's Federal District governor Agnelo Quieroz told local media.
Brazil's largest city Sao Paulo staged the event from 2010 to 2013 before being removed from the circuit due to funding problems.
The announcement comes less than two months after Brasilia was taken off this year's MotoGP schedule, reportedly due to delayed track refurbishments.
