TEHRAN, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Tractor Sazi of Tabriz defeated Al Ittihad of Saudi Arabia 1-0 in the AFC Champions League, Tehran Times daily reported on Tuhrsday.
The hosts beat the two-time AFC Champions League winners in Tabriz city's Yadegar-e Emam Stadium on Wednesday in Group C.
The Iranian club went down to 10 men in the 60th minute after Ali Karimi was shown his second yellow card for a tackle on Al Ittihad player.
With eight minutes remaining Karim Ansarifard found the back of the net. Ansarifard dribbled past the Saudi Arabian defenders and scored a stunning goal with a powerful shot.
"I am satisfied with the way my players played. In the first half, we controlled the match and deserved to win. I think the best team won the match," Tractor Sazi's coach Antonio Jose Conceicao Oliveira said during the post match news conference.
In another match of Group C, Al Ain of the UAE started with a 2-1 victory over Qatari visitors Lekhwiya at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium on Wednesday.
