CBA: Yi Jianlian leads Guangdong to regular-season title in advance

BEIJING, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) -- Yi Jianlian scored 31 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead Guangdong Hongyuan over Bayi Fubang 106-89, and helped his team win the CBA regular-season title with three games to play in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league on Sunday.

Guangdong's Joshua Powell had 16 points and 10 rebounds, Ren Junfei scored 16 points, Wang Shipeng committed 11 points and five boards and Gao Shang added 10 points.

All five Bayi starters scored double-digit points. Tian Yuxiang had a team-high 18 points, eight rebounds and 5 assists and Bayi's veteran center Wang Zhizhi contributed 16 points and seven boards.

Guangdong extended winning streaks to 13 games and won their 10th title of CBA regular season with three rounds to go.

Beijing Ducks claimed an easy 133-79 victory over Tianjin Ronggang. Beijing's Randolph Morris scored 24 points and 11 rebounds, Zhai Xiaochuan helped with 22 points and six boards, Li Gen scored 19 points, Zhang Songtao and Chen Lei both had 15 points, Sun Yue finished with 13 points and seven assists, and the former NBA player Stephon Marbury added 9 points and 7 assists.

Beijing wanted to stay third in the league by winning the game and they pulled away in the second quarter. Tianjin's foreign duo only played only the first half and Tianjin almost gave up when Beijing's lead reached as many as 40 points. The 54-point loss is the biggest margin for Tianjin in their CBA history.

The game of Fujian SBS versus Zhejiang Chouzhou lasted about three hours and created the longest game in CBA history. After five OT periods, Fujian edged Zhejiang 178-177.

In other games, Liaoning Hengye beat Shanxi Fenjiu 96-91, Shanghai Sharks defeated Shandong Gold 96-82, Xinjiang Guanghui topped Jilin Northeast Tigers 119-101, Zhejiang Guangsha edged Sichuan Jinqiang 109-107, Foshan Long Lions downed Qingdao Doublestars 122-120 and Dongguan Marco Polo overpowered Jiangsu Dragons 115-97.
