BERLIN, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- Dortmund's Jakub Blaszczykowski will be sidelined for the rest of the season due to a knee injury, the German soccer club confirmed via its official homepage on Sunday.
Polish international and Dortmund midfielder Blaszczykowski tore his anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, an MRI scan revealed Sunday. The midfielder suffered the knee injury during the two-all draw against Augsburg on Saturday. Therefore Blaszczykowski will undergo a surgery in the coming days.
"Nothing can throw me back. I will do everything to return stronger than ever on the pitch," the midfielder said. "Kuba" scored 27 goals in 184 appearances for Dortmund since 2007.
The Polish international can expect to return in the summer break, according to BVB's club doctor Markus Braun.
Dortmund sit currently on third place, 14 points adrif of front runner Bayern Munich.
