MELBOURNE, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- No. 3 seed David Ferrer cruised to victories Sunday in the fourth round at the Australian Open and booked a perth in quarterfinals.

Spaniard Ferrer defeated Germany's Florian Mayer 6-7(5-7), 7-5, 6-2, 6-1. After dropping the first set in the tiebreak, Ferrer bounced back to win 8 of 15 possible break points.

Ferrer had 43 unforced errors, but was aided by Mayer, who committed 49 unforced mistakes.
