TOKYO, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- The Ski Association of Japan on Tuesday named Akito Watabe, Nordic combined skier, with nine others to Japan's team for the upcoming Sochi Winter Olympics, according to local media.
Watabe, 25, who is currently fourth in the Nordic combined World Cup standings, will be taking part in his third consecutive Winter Games. He is joined on the combined team by his 22-year-old brother and Olympic debutant Yoshito, reported Japan's Kyodo News.
The team also groups Taihei Kato, Yusuke Minato and Hideaki Nagai. It will be the second crack at the Winter Games for Kato and Minato, while Nagai will be making his Olympic debut at the age of 30.
Taku Hiraoka, 18, and Ayumu Hirano, 15, will compete in men's halfpipe snowboard. Hiraoka won a silver medal at last season's world championships.
Tomoka Takeuchi will compete in women's parallel slalom in her fourth consecutive Winter Games, while Yuka Fujimori will race in women's boardercross for the third straight Games.
Yuki Kadono will take part in men's slopestyle skiing, which makes its Olympic debut at the Sochi Games, according to the report.
