Uganda makes changes in squad for 2014 Africa Nations Championship

KAMPALA, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- The head coach of Uganda's national football team, the Cranes has made changes in the squad for the 2014 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) in South Africa.

In a surprise move made on Saturday afternoon, head coach Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevioc dropped KCCA FC defender Rogers Aloro and replaced him with Nicholas Wadada who has not been training because of a cut he sustained when he fell off a motorbike late last month.

Micho had named his final 23 players last week and said Wadada had failed to beat the deadline given to him to be fit.

"It is unfortunate for Aloro, but Wadada who has more experience has recovered in time and will make the trip," the coach told Xinhua in an interview

Wadada who features for SC Vipers in the local Ugandan League was part of the Cranes team that featured in the recent 2013 Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup in Kenya.

As the championship is scheduled to kick off on Jan. 11, the Cranes will start their campaign against Burkina Faso on Jan. 12, before taking on Zimbabwe four days later. They will complete the group game against Morocco on Jan. 20.
