US confirm Brazil World Cup training camp squad

RIO DE JANEIRO, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) -- United States coach Jurgen Klinsmann has named a 26-man squad to take part in a pre-World Cup training camp in Brazil later this month.

The camp will be held from January 13-25 at the Barra Funda training centre in Sao Paulo, US soccer officials said on Friday.

"We are all very excited for this camp because, as a team, it will give us our first taste of Brazil," Klinsmann said in a communique.

"This is a very important camp in our preparations for the World Cup. It's important for the players to continue developing their bond and sense of urgency for the tournament."

The US team's Brazil visit will follow a six-day camp in Carson, California.

Klinsmann's squad includes nine players who are yet to make their international debut.

The US have been drawn in the World Cup's Group G with Germany, Portugal and Ghana.

Football's showpiece event will be played in 12 Brazilian cities from June 12 to July 13.

US squad:

Goalkeepers: Tally Hall (Houston Dynamo), Bill Hamid (D.C. United), Sean Johnson (Chicago Fire), Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake)

Defenders: Matt Besler (Sporting Kansas City), Brad Evans (Seattle Sounders FC), Omar Gonzalez (LA Galaxy), Clarence Goodson (San Jose Earthquakes), Michael Harrington (Portland Timbers), Chris Klute (Colorado Rapids), Chance Myers (Sporting Kansas City), Shane O' Neill (Colorado Rapids), Seth Sinovic (Sporting Kansas City), DeAndre Yedlin (Seattle Sounders FC)

Midfielders: Eric Alexander (New York Red Bulls), Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Brad Davis (Houston Dynamo), Mix Diskerud (Rosenborg), Benny Feilhaber (Sporting Kansas City), Luis Gil (Real Salt Lake), Dax McCarty (New York Red Bulls), Graham Zusi (Sporting Kansas City)
