HOUSTON, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- The Houston Rockets staged Dwight Howard's debut and lost 116-115 in the preseason opener to the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday night.
The Rockets hosted the game in front of over 15,000 fans at the Toyota Center. Center Dwight Howard didn't disappoint in his first game with the team as he scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds in 27 minutes in play.
Guard James Harden led the Rockets with 21 points and played 28 minutes in the game. Jeremy Lin, who played 19 minutes on the field, had 11 points, three rebounds and four assists.
On the Pelicans' side, Anthony Morrow scored 26 points from the field in 33 minutes. Anthony Davis added 21 points on 9-of-16 shooting in 27 minutes, and Austin Rivers also had 21 points in 32 minutes.
The Rockets will play their next game on Thursday against the Indiana Pacers in Manila, Philippines.
