ST. PETERSBURG, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Russian Premier League leaders Zenit St. Petersburg have extended their lead at the top of the table after a 4-2 home win over second-placed Spartak Moscow this evening.
The hosts opened the scoring in the 20th minute courtesy of Alexander Kerzhakov, but Spartak found an equalizer on the half-hour through Kim Kjaellstrom to take the sides into the half-time break at 1-1.
A 69th-minute Hulk strike took Zenit 2-1 in front, but an immediate reply from Yura Movsisyan took the two teams into a tense final quarter of an hour. Zenit substitute Oleg Shatov broke the deadlock in the 82nd minute before the season's leading goalscorer, Danny, made sure of the result with a strike five minutes from time.
Zenit move to 26 points from 11 matches, while Spartak remain on 23 points. Lokomotiv Moscow are a point behind on 22, but will play their Round 11 fixture with Tom' Tomsk on Monday.
