ANKARA, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- Turkey's deputy prime minister has pointed to security negligence in the failure to prevent groups from invading the pitch at the Besiktas-Galatasaray match on Sunday in what he called an incident "orchestrated for provocation", Turkish Daily News reported Monday.
Bulent Arinc told reporters on Monday that between 3,000 and 5,000 people seemed to have entered the stadium covertly for provocative actions, and security services may overlooked their infiltration.
The deputy prime minister said necessary and even radical measures should be taken to prevent similar incidents from taking place.
Hundreds of fans halted the Istanbul derby between Galatasaray and Besiktas after storming the pitch at Istanbul's Olympic Stadium on Sunday.
Galatasaray was leading 2-1 in the third minute of added time when the match was halted, sending the players sprinting for the safety of the locker rooms.
