BELO HORIZONTE, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- Ronaldinho has insisted Atletico Mineiro can still win the Campeonato Brasileiro after the team ended a five-game unbeaten run Wednesday with a 2-0 victory over Bahia.
The former Barcelona star was in sparkling form at the Independencia stadium, and he set up Atletico's first goal with a curling corner kick that was headed in by Leonardo Silva in the 20th minute.
Ronaldinho was again the provider just before the hour when he released Junior Cesar with a clever through ball while hemmed in on the left touchline. Cesar then laid off a sublime pass off his own for Alecsandro to fire in with a first-time finish at the near post.
The victory was Atletico's first since their Copa Libertadores triumph over Paraguay's Olimpia on July 24. They are now 14th in the standings with 15 points from 13 games.
"The mindset has to be like that of winners," Ronaldinho said when asked if Atletico could still win the Brasileirao. "Those that don't play to be champions shouldn't be playing."
"After the euphoria of the Libertadores, now we have to focus on this competition. We have to start stringing wins together and hopefully we have started that today."
In other matches on Wednesday, Criciuma beat Nautico 3-0; Santos drew 1-1 with Vasco da Gama; Vitoria overcame Ponte Preta 3-1; Coritiba were held to 1-1 draw by Portuguesa; Fluminense drew 0-0 with Corinthians; Gremio beat Cruzeiro 3-1 and Goias drew 1-1 with Flamengo.
