MELBOURNE, Australia, March 15 (Xinhua) -- Red Bull's three-time reigning champion Sebastian Vettel showed a solid form on Friday as the German dominated the first day practice ahead of the weekend's season-opening Australian Formula One Grand Prix.
The 25-year-old Vettel clocked the fastest lap time of one minute 25.908 seconds in the afternoon session after he topped the time list of the opening practice session in the morning in 1:27.211.
Vettel's teammate Mark Webber of Australia posted a second fastest time of 1:26.172 to add to the domination for Red Bull.
Mercedes' German driver Nico Rosberg was third in 1:26.322, while the Lotus duo, former world champ Kimi Raikkonen of Finland and his French teammate Romain Grosjean settled fourth and fifth.
British driver Jenson Button, winner of last season's Australian Formula Grand Prix, finished in the discouraging 11th place with his McLaren car.
