WELLINGTON, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- The Spanish top seed David Ferrer on Saturday won the Heineken Open men's tennis tournament in Auckland, beating German second seed Phillip Kohlschreiber in straight sets 7-6 (5), 6-1 in the final.
Ferrer, the world number five, won the first set in a tie break and took the second set 6-1.
It is Ferrer's fourth Heineken Open title and third in a row and that equals the record of the Australian great Roy Emerson.
Top seeds Colin Fleming of Britain and Bruno Soares of Brazil won the men's doubles title.
