QINGDAO, Jan. 1 (Xinhua) -- Superstar Tracy McGrady, injured in last match, didn't show up in Tuesday's game and his Qingdao Doublestar was defeated by the powerhouse Guangdong in CBA league.
Qingdao led in the first half and was overturned in the third quarter, losing the game 105-110. Qingdao's home win streak was also stopped in Tuesday night.
Chris Daniels from NBDL snatched a game-high 34 points and 11 rebounds. Yi Jianlian pocketed a team-high 31 points and 14 rebounds for Guangdong.
"I am very satisfied with the whole game, although we lost. These players really tried their best." said Zhang Shizhang, coach of Qingdao.
"I heard McGrady got injuries both in back and legs. It's still uncertain whether he can play in next round." Zhang Shizhang said.
"Overall, we did a good job today, but our defense was weak in first half," said Li Chunjiang, coach of Guangdong.
Powered by Chris Daniels, Qingdao led by six points at the very beginning of the game. Guangdong's star players levelled the score in two minutes and established a one-point lead in the first quarter.
Thanking for tight defense, Qingdao overturned the powerhouse and took a 12-point lead for a while in the second quarter. Guangdong narrowed the gap to five points at the end of first half.
Yi Jianlian, who had played for Milwaukee Bucks in NBA, led Guangdong to fight back and equalized with 68-68, and the visiting team got a 13-point lead before the final quarter.
Qingdao managed to close the gap to four points with 28 seconds remaining, but Guangdong got the key rebound and extended the lead to win the game.
Zhu Fangyu, player of China's national basketball team, got 16 points in the game and his total score in CBA surpassed 9,000 points.
