KUALA LUMPUR, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- Badminton world number one Lee Chong Wei said he will continue to play the badminton arena at least for at least another two years after settling down with his long term girlfriend, Wong Mew Choo.
He and Wong, a Malaysian top singles badminton player, were due to wed on November 9 and 10 in Kuala Lumpur after 11 years of courtship.
"My badminton career will not change. I will be competing in the Hong Kong Open and the Macao Open Badminton Championships but not the China Open because I haven't been practising because of the wedding," Lee told a press conference after revealing details of his wedding ceremony.
"I want to perform for another two years. The burden is huge... but I would like to compete at least at the coming Asian Games and the Commonwealth Games and gear up for the World Championships next year," Lee said.
A co-sponsor said Lee would put on a 200,000-ringgit (65,541 U.S. dollars) tuxedo while his fiance, a wedding gown that costs 330,000 ringgit (108,143 U.S. dollars) at the wedding next weekend.
Chong Wei had announced the nuptial plans earlier this month before he defeated China's Du Pengyu to win his second Denmark Open title two weeks ago.
His arch rival and world number two Lin Dan from China, said earlier he would be absent at Chong Wei's wedding ceremony, to be held at several locations including one at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center.
