HONG KONG, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- The six-day Hong Kong Open Badminton Championship 2012 will be held at Hong Kong Coliseum from Nov. 20-25, announced the Hong Kong Badminton Association here on Tuesday.
As part of the BWF World Superseries, the 2012 Hong Kong Open increased the prize to 350,000 U.S. dollars, which will be the highest prize for the event in history.
This year's event attracted 303 players from 27 countries and regions.
The team of China is formed with 28 players, leading by the six gold medal winners at London Olympics, which are Li Xuerui, Cai Yun, Fu Haifeng, Tian Qing, Zhao Yunlei and Zhang Nan. Among them, there were also the world famous women's doubles pair Yu Yang and Wang Xiaoli.
Leading by Lee Chong-Wei, Koo Kien-Keat and Tan Boon-Heong, the Malaysian team will also send a team of 28 players, while Indonesia will have 41 players to take part in, including Hidayat Taufik and Soni Dwi Kuncoro.
Denmark, the powerful European team, was formed with 10 players, including Tine Baun.
The Hong Kong team delegated 42 players of Yip Pui-yin, Wong Wing-ki, Poon Lok-yan and Tse Ying-Suet.
