MINSK, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- Spanish forward Pedro Rodriguez scored a hat-trick as Spain made it two wins from two World Cup qualifying matches with a thumping 4-0 victory over Belarus in Minsk on Friday evening.
Left back Jordi Alba got Spain rolling 12 minutes in from a pass by Pedro, who then doubled the visitors' lead at Dinamo stadium in the 21st minute. Then Pedro added two more goals in the 69th and 72nd to seal the comfortable win.
Belarus had a chance to cut the deficit but Stanislav Dragun's kick went over the crossbar in the 76th minute.
Spain now awaits France on Tuesday in a match that could be key to determining which side finishes top of the group. Belarus, meanwhile, lost all three of its matches so far, and faces Georgia next.
"We played well and controlled the match. Belarus could not play to our level, and never felt comfortable on the pitch," Spain manager Vicente del Bosque said after the match.
