MOSCOW, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- The preparations for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi were "impeccable", the International Olympic Committee (IOC) said Thursday.
"We noticed a tangible progress in building the Olympic venues in Sochi," head of the IOC Coordination Commission Jean-Claude Killy told reporters in the Black Sea resort of Sochi.
"With no exaggeration, the works have been done impeccably," Killy said, adding that the three Olympic villages were being built with high qualities.
"The athletes will be in excellent surroundings," he said.
The Coordination Commission have just wrapped up its eighth trip to Russia to inspect preparations for the Sochi Winter Olympics and the following Paralympic Games.
In winter 2012-2013, a series of test competitions will be held in the Olympics venues.
Under the theme of "Hot. Cool. Yours.", the Sochi Olympics will be opened on Feb. 7, 2014 and run until Feb. 23. The Games will feature 98 medal events, which is 12 more than those of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada. Enditem
