CANBERRA, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Warwick Smith, who will be appointed as the independent chair of the Swimming Review panel by the Australian Sports Commission (ASC), would bring a wealth of expertise to the review process, said Australian Minister for Sport Kate Lundy Friday.
The independent panel will review the sport's high performance program, governance and administration and report to Swimming Australia and the ASC.
"High quality leadership in sport is essential to ensure the public can have confidence that government funding is wisely invested. I look forward to the recommendations from this review process, as ultimately the implementation of the outcomes will guide future funding decisions," she said.
Through the Australian Sports Commission, the Gillard Government had invested more than $10.4 million in 2011-12 to support swimming's high performance and participation programs.
