ANKARA, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- A 26-year old footballer of Turkey's Eskisehirspor soccer club passed away in Eskisehir province in central Turkey, said a statement on Wednesday.
Ediz Bahtiyaroglu died on Tuesday night and details about his demise would be shared with the public, Eskisehirspor said in the statement posted on its website.
Press spokesperson for Eskisehirspor, Erdal Sahbaz, said that Bahtiyaroglu may have died due to a heart attack but it was not certain yet.
Bahtiyaroglu attended a training session with his team on Tuesday evening and later went home. After Bahtiyaroglu did not feel well, his girl friend called 112 emergency hotline and requested help.
A health team arrived at Bahtiyaroglu's residence only to find out that he was already dead.
Bahtiyaroglu was a Bosnian footballer who also had Turkish citizenship after moving to Turkey at the age of 10. Before coming to Eskisehirspor, he played for Turkish soccer clubs Ankaraspor, Ankaragucu and Bucaspor.
