LONDON, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- Oribe Peralta scored a brace to help underdogs Mexico beat Brazil 2-1 and win their first ever Olympic gold medal on Saturday.
Peralta netted his first within 30 seconds into the game when he picked up the intercepted ball from a loose Brazil pass to sent it past unprepared Brazilian goalkeeper Gabriel. Then he doubled Mexico's lead in the 74th minute with a crisp shot.
Hulk's consolation strike in the 90th minute was not enough as Oscar headed over the bar from close range with seconds left.
Brazil have never won the gold medal and lost out both other times they have reached the final - in 1984 and 1988.
