BEIJING, Nov. 9 (Xinhuanet) -- Ningxia aims to become an "international tourist destination" as it has made great efforts to promote its Muslim tourist business with more and more favorable policies taking effects.
"Ningxia is a beautiful place, and we'd like to take a visit here. We intend to promote Ningxia tourism products at the Spanish Travel Expo to draw more Spanish and European people to travel in Ningxia," the president of Spanish Tourist Association said during China International Tourism Trade Fair.
In the Trade Fair, dozens of traveling salesmen from India, the United States, South Korea, as well as China’s Hong Kong, Taiwan and other regions consulted information related to Ningxia tourism.
Moreover, some of them have already started business negotiations with the native tourism enterprises.
At the World Muslim Tour Operators Conference 2013 in Yinchuan, the capital city of Ningxia, tourism contracts with a total value of 3 billion yuan (490 million U.S. dollars) were signed between the local tour operators and their counterparts from more than 20 countries and regions.
It is estimated that there will be a total of 15 million visitors this year, while the revenue from tourism will surpass 12.5 billion yuan for the region.
Also, the number of foreign tourists is expected to reach 20,000 with an increase of 11 percent. And the foreign exchange income will exceed 10 million U.S. dollars with a year-on-year growth of 40 percent.
