A: The fourteenth China-EU Summit held in a friendly atmosphere yesterday was a success with fruitful results. Leaders from both sides had an in-depth exchange of views on the international landscape, China-EU relations, regional hotspots and other issues and reached important consensus on deepening cooperation in investment, trade, scientific research, innovation, energy, environmental protection, urbanization and people-to-people exchanges. Chinese leaders explicitly stated that China supports EU's efforts against the European debt issue, has faith in both the euro and the European economy and would like to stay in touch with the European side on greater participation in resolving the European debt issue. European leaders expressed welcome to that. The Summit sends out a clear message that China and the EU are jointly combating the crisis, deepening partnership, promoting their respective development and the strong and sustainable growth of the world economy, which injects impetus to the development of China-EU relations.
The Chinese side said that over the years China has achieved sustained and fast economic development and stable advancement of social and political reforms. By striving for a peaceful international environment, China achieves self-development which in return safeguards world peace and promotes common development. A: Vice President Xi Jinping will pay an official visit to Ireland from February 18 to 20. During his visit, Vice President Xi will hold talks with Prime Minister Kenny and meet with President Higgins, Speaker Barrett of the House of Representatives, Speaker Burke of the Senate, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Gilmore and other Irish leaders to have an in-depth exchange of views on China-Ireland, China-EU relations and other issues of common interest.
China and Ireland share traditional friendship. Over recent years, the two sides have kept the momentum of high-level exchanges, made concrete progress in cooperation across the board and constantly deepened mutual understanding and friendship. Against the backdrop of slow world economic recovery and increasing challenges for the international community, further developing China-Ireland relations is in the common interests of the two countries and two peoples and in line with the major direction of the development of China-EU relations. Our efforts have paid off. What we have done is not yielding to external pressure since IPR protection serves the long-term interests of China itself. We will continue to enhance IPR protection. We also hope that the outside world will understand that it takes time for China, a vast country, to improve IPR protection to which China has firm commitment.

A: The G20 rotating president Mexico will hold an unofficial foreign ministers' meeting in Los Cabos from February 19 to 20, inviting G20 members and 11 non-G20 members, such as Benin, Cambodia and Chile which hold presidencies of the Arab League, the ASEAN and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States respectively. Assistant Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu will lead a delegation to the meeting. The theme of this unofficial meeting is to enhance global governance with a focus on the role of G20, multilateralism, development and other issues.
