Inauguration of Dr. Alexander Zamolodchikov as the C.N. Yang – Wei Deng Endowed Chair in Physics and Astronomy at C.N. Yang Institute, SUNY at Stony Brook was held in Beijing last Friday.
The inauguration ceremony has brought together celebrities including Professor C.N. Yang, the famous physician and the laureate of Nobel Prize in Physics, and his wife Mrs. Weng Fan, Dr. Samuel L. Stanley, the President of the Stony Brook University, and Jing’an Zhang, the Director-General of China Association of Science and Technology Industry Parks.

Dr. Alexander Zamolodchikov, winning his fame in Mathematics and theoretical physics worldwide, is the first scholar who was granted the honor of Chair Professorship by C.N. Yang – Wei Deng Endowed Chair in Physics and Astronomy ever since the establishment of the Endowed Chair.
Dr. Alexander Zamolodchikov elaborated his speech on significant issues of his research field in the inauguration.
The C.N. Yang – Wei Deng Endowed Chair in Physics and Astronomy will give impetus to the research in Physics and Astronomy, and enhance China-U.S. cultural communications, said Professor C.N. Yang.
“Dr. Zamolodchikov is anticipated to make greater contributions to Physics research.” Professor C.N. Yang added.
The C.N. Yang – Wei Deng Endowed Chair in Physics and Astronomy has been set to show respect to Professor C.N. Yang, the recognition to the Stony Brook University, as well as the support for the research of Physics and Astronomy, said Dr. Wei Deng.
