Facebook introduces 360-degree videos

English.news.cn   2015-09-24 17:10:41

BEIJING, Sept. 24 (Xinhuanet) -- U.S. social network company Facebook launched 360-degree videos, letting users experience scenes from any angle.

This means that when the video is playing on Facebook, you can choose whatever angle you want to see it from, Facebook Video Engineering Director Maher Saba said.

At a desktop computer, you can do this by dragging the video around with your mouse. On mobile devices, you can simply use your finger to take a look at all angles. You'll also be able to hold up your phone and the 360-degree video will follow along as you turn, Maher Saba explained.

The first batch of "360 videos" were published on Wednesday as marketing material from the makers of Star Wars, NBC's Saturday Night Live, Go Pro, and others.

Facebook said this feature is available now to Facebook News Feeds on the Web and Android, and will be available on iOS in the coming months.
