BEIJING, Sept. 23 (Xinhuanet) – Microsoft Corp's Office 2016 software will incorporate with Internet-connected features including built-in Skype and collaboration tools based on cloud technique.
According to John Case, vice president for Office, the new version of Office offers flagship productivity applications like Word and Excel, with tools for video-conferencing, voice commands and collaboration.
The focus of the newly added features is on the cloud, such as letting two people type in the same document simultaneously and see each other's work instantly.
There's a "share" button at the top right of the app. Users can Skype with coworkers from within Word, Excel and PowerPoint. They can set up group conversations in Outlook and work together as a team on documents saved in Microsoft's OneDrive cloud storage.
Unlike Google's collaborative apps that run inside a browser, the new version of Office is still a software installed on users' computers.
