BEIJING, March 21 (Xinhuanet) -- Anzu wyliei, a new dinosaur nicknamed "chicken from hell," was discovered in North and South Dakota of America, according to a study quoted in media reports Friday.
Anzu wyliei, over two meters tall, seems strange for researchers, according to Matthew Lamanna, lead author of the study, for its jaws, feathers and crest all make it look like a bird.
This discovery also gives scientists a chance to look into caenagnathidae, a subset of a larger group of dinosaurs called oviraptorosaurs.
And Anzu bones also show oviraptorosaurs could live in North America, though their fossils were previously found in central and east Asia.
The specimens were found in Hell Creek, a site formed over the last two million years of the Cretaceous Period.
