BEIJING, Feb. 24 (Xinhuanet) -- Microsoft Corp. announced nine new hardware partners for Windows Phone to push more manufacturers to make cheaper Windows-based smart phones.
In addition to existing partners, Microsoft announced Sunday it is working with Foxconn, Gionee, Lava, Lenovo, LG, Longcheer, JSR, Karbonn and ZTE to develop on the Windows Phone platform.
Microsoft Corp. is also broadening the number of smart phone makers of Windows phones, working with companies including Lenovo and Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., representing more than 56 percent of the addressable market globally.
"We are pleased to add these new partners to our expanding Windows Phone ecosystem. They will be key contributors to continued growth across price points and geographies for Windows Phone," said Nick Parker, corporate vice president of the OEM Division at Microsoft.
