BEIJING, Feb. 17 (Xinhuanet) -- One major difference between the original Titanic and Titanic II lies in a safety deck, said Australian mining magnate Clive Palmer.
Palmer is the sponsor of Titanic II, a modern replica of Titanic to be built by a Chinese company and the magnate, according to media reports Sunday.
“It's got an extra deck and that extra deck is nothing like the original,” Palmer said，"It's a safety deck full of Atlantic-class life boats with tops on them so that whatever happens you will survive in the sea."
Titanic II will mostly replicate the design of the ill-fated original, but will be equipped with cutting-edge technology and the latest navigation and safety systems.
It will stay true to the original one in terms of size, with nine decks and 840 rooms and is expected to accommodate nearly 900 crew members and over 2,400 passengers.
It also will be well equipped with gyms, swimming pools, libraries, high-class restaurants and luxurious cabins.
Building such a luxury ship will be the start for Chinese shipbuilders to get into the international cruise shipping market, the reports added.
