SAINT PETERSBURG, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- The nuclear-powered icebreaker "Russia" has begun its weeklong journey from the northern port of Murmansk to join Russia's Baltic Fleet on Tuesday.
The icebreaker will pass along the Danish and Norwegian coasts for the second time before beginning a three-month stay in the Baltic on Jan. 23rd.
The vessel was first deployed in the Baltic in 2011 when unusually thick ice left more than 200 vessels stranded. Similarly cold weather is feared over the coming winter months.
