CANBERRA, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Australian Tourism Minister Martin Ferguson and Environment Minister Tony Burke joined tour operators on Wednesday to launch Tasmania's national landscape - "Tasmania's Island Heritage."

The famous island state of Australia has been named Australia's 15th "national landscape" and will be promoted around the world as one of the country's leading ecotourism list, which is called Natural Landscapes. This program is a partnership between Tourism Australia and Parks Australia showcasing Australia's most iconic landscapes. It already features the Australian Alps, the Red Center, the Blue Mountains and the Great Ocean Road.

"Nature is the primary driver attracting overseas visitors to Australia. The creation of these fifteen iconic National Landscapes is central in assisting international travelers to explore our vast and fascinating country and support a strong tourism sector," Tony Burke said.
