HAVANA, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Academics and scientists from 22 countries will gather here for the 4th International Seminar on Nanosciences and Nanotechnologies to be held from Sept. 18 to 21 in Havana' s Palace of Conventions, the organizers said Friday.
The seminar will include conferences and lectures on bionanotechnology and its applications in the health field.
Other issues in the seminar' s agenda are the functional and nano-structured materials, theory, modelling, simulation in nanoscale, nano-security and public perception of nanotechnologies.
An exhibition of nanoscale-devices will also be held during the meeting.
The organizing committee said one of the seminar' s goals is to set elements for the design of a national strategy in this promising field.
Nanotechnology is the science that develops and produces tiny devices of enormous precision in its composition and properties, very useful in computers' manufacturing.
The development of nanomedicine can provide new methods for diagnosis of diseases.
Dr. Fidel Castro Diaz-Balart, director of the Advanced Training Center of Cuba (CEAC) and son of former president Fidel Castro, said Cuba is advancing not only in nanotechnology, but also in its application in the biopharmaceutical production.
