BUDAPEST, July 24 (Xinhua) -- Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton (Britain) won the Formula One Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday, for a record-breaking 5th time on the Hungaroring track with a time of 1 hour 40 minutes and 30.115 seconds.

His Mercedes' team mate Nico Rosberg (Germany) finished second (down by 1.977 seconds) and Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo (Australia) finished third (27.539 seconds behind the lead).

Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel (German) was 4th ahead of Red Bull's Max Verstappen (Netherlands), who was 5th.

Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen (Finland) finished 6th, while the two Spaniards, McLaren's Fernando Alonso and Toro Rosso's Carlos Sainz Jr. were 7th and 8th.

Williams' Valtteri Bottas (Finland) was 9th and Force India' s Nico Hulkenberg (Germany) was 10th.

Hamilton's win, his 5th at Hungaroring, puts him ahead of 4-time winner Michael Schumacher (who retired in 2012), the previous record-holder. It was also 5th win in 6 races, which catapulted him to the lead in the overall standings for the 1st time this year, with 192 points ahead of Rosberg's 186.

This was the 30th anniversary of the Hungaroring track, which held its first meet in 1986, a race that was won by Brazilian Nelson Piquet ahead of his legendary countryman Ayrton Senna, a 3-time winner at Hungaroring.

The next F1 meet will be the German Grand Prix at Hockenheimring on July 31.
