
Guthi Sansthan officials display the bejeweled vest known as "Bhoto" from the chariot of Rato Machhendranath to conclude the Rato Machhendranath festival at Bungmati in Lalitpur, Nepal, Oct. 18, 2015. According to the Hindu legend, Rato Machhindranath is known as the god of rain. The month-long Rato Machhindranath festival begins with the construction of the chariot in Pulchowk and ends with the Bhoto Jatra festival in Jawalakhel of Patan. It is celebrated by Buddhists and Hindus of Newar community by carrying the chariot to different places in the town of Patan in hope for good rain and prosperity.
