ANKARA, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- Two attacks by Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants in eastern Turkey Tuesday killed two Turkish policemen and injured 14 others, local media reported.
One of the attacks occurred on the Hakkari-Van highway in the province of Hakkari in the afternoon. As police vehicles proceeded on, the PKK detonated explosives across the road. Two policemen were killed and another two injured in the incident.
In addition, twelve soldiers were wounded in the morning in the eastern province of Mus after PKK militants detonated explosives targeting a military vehicle.
A Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesperson said Tuesday that Turkey will resolutely continue military operations against the outlawed PKK in northern Iraq, despite criticisms from the Iraqi authorities.
Earlier Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jafari called on the Turkish government to coordinate its military campaign against the PKK with Baghdad.
The Turkish spokesperson responded that Turkey is simultaneously fighting several terrorist organizations and will forge ahead with its military operations against the terrorist organization.
