Lobsang Tashi (R) talks with his employee at one of his traditional Tibetan style hotel which is under construction in Lhasa, capital of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, Aug. 5, 2015. Born in a mountain village in Shannan Prefecture of Tibet, Lobsang Tashi has long harbored a deep love of the traditional culture of Tibet. In his youth, Lobsang came to the old town of Lhasa and worked as a tour guide. Driven by keen interest in protecting old buildings and culture of Lhasa, Lobsang Tashi got a chance to win a business right to renovate several old buildings into modern decent hotels. In Lobsang's mind, this is obviously the best way to protect and revive flavour of the traditional Tibetan architecture. The project obtained support from local administration of culture heritage, and Lobsang did not change the structures in the renovation but tried his best to preserve the style of the original buildings. Today, two of Lobsang's projects, which have been put into use as hotels, attract many visitors during tourist season, and a third building is under renovation work.
