NEW YORK, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) -- Tenth-seeded Caroline Wozniacki defeated number five seed Maria Sharapova 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 to book a last-eight berth at the U.S. Open on Sunday.
Sharapova was considered as one of the biggest favorites to win the title, especially after three of the top five seeds had already been eliminated in the first three rounds. However, the former World No. 1 Wozniacki, holding a remarkable 16-3 record after Wimbledon, refused to think that way.Full Story
