CAIRO, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- An Egyptian prosecutor has ordered on Wednesday the arrest of two leading activists and detained at least 24 others for inciting protests and defying a new controversial law that regulates demonstrations by requiring participants to receive state approval beforehand.
Egypt's general prosecutor, Hesham Barakat, has ordered the arrest of April 6 Movement Founder Ahmed Maher and blogger Alaa Abdel Fattah, two prominent activists who spearheaded massive protests that ousted President Hosni Mubarak in 2011, accusing them of encouraging people to demonstrate against the protest law, state-run news agency MENA said.
