BEIJING, Aug. 16 (Xinhuanet) -- The extraordinary story of Steve Jobs, the original innovator of Apple Computers, is the theme of the upcoming film "Jobs". This two-hour bio-pic tells the epic and turbulent story of the icon as he blazed a trail that changed technology and the world forever. Our New York reporter Adeline Chui sat down with Ashton Kutcher, who plays the titular role, and director Josh Stern to talk about the man and the myths of "Jobs".

The movie is essentially about Steve Jobs, the man who creates Apple Computers in his parents’ garage that eventually becomes one of the biggest corporations in the world. But it took two people to build the Apple Empire. So, even though the movie is called "Jobs", the story focuses on the working relationship between Jobs and his partner Steve Wozniak. Ashton Kutcher and director Josh Stern explained that partnership.

AC: How important was the relationship between Jobs and Wozniak?

AK: That relationship is the crux of our film but I also think it’s the crux of Apple.

JS: They were actually, oddly enough, the different sides to the same coin. They brought to the emergence of this technology something different that would not have worked without one another, meaning there would not have been Apple without Woz, and Woz would not have made it without Steve.

By carefully leveling the relationship between Wozniak and Steve Jobs, the production took years of preparations and facts check on the history of the Apple Empire. The climax follows the time when Steve Jobs replaced Wozniak at Apple and made his revolutionary invention.

AC: Do you think Woz got his notoriety he deserved?

AK: I don’t know if he got the notoriety that maybe he wanted and I don’t know if he got the notoriety that he deserved. He really was the engineer behind this personal computing revolution. But there came a certain point where Apple wasn’t possible without Steve Wozniak and I think there came a point in time where that switched and it became that Apple is not possible without Steve Jobs.

Besides the story between Woz and Jobs, Ashton Kutcher's portrayal of Steve Jobs is easily the most talked about subject about the movie. Kutcher has the initial advantage of a reasonable resemblance to Jobs, but goes beyond this to faithfully re-create some of his man’s physical mannerisms.

AC: So what do you want the audience to know about the Steve Jobs you portrayed?

AK: I hope it inspires people to have the courage to build the life that they live in and not be afraid to set great goals for themselves and pursue those goals. I hope they learn to do it in a way that’s a little bit more kind and generous than Steve Jobs did, but my goal ultimately is to inspire a new generation of people to build amazing things.

The movie "Jobs" will be released on August 16th in the United States to mark Apple’s 37th anniversary.
