A TV serial titled Louis Cha's (also known as Jin Yong) Swordman has been staged at the HunanTV in Chinese mainland. The TV serial adaptations of the prolific martial arts novelist's famous novel "The Smiling Proud Wanderer" have been criticized for excessive use of visual effects, weak story lines and lack of originality.
