CHINA-GANSU-JIUQUAN-MAPPING SATELLITE-LAUNCH (CN)

A Long March 2D carrier rocket carrying Tianhui I-02 mapping satellite blasts off from the launch pad at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China's Gansu Province, May 6, 2012. The satellite has entered its preset orbit. The satellite, developed and produced by a company under the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC), will mainly be used to conduct scientific experiments, carry out land resource surveys and map territory, according to a statement released after the launch.
