Zhang Yunling, born in May 1945, is a native of Wenshang, Shandong Province, and a member of the Communist Party of China. He is a member of the Presidium of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Academic Divisions, and a director of the Academic Division of International Studies. He serves as Director, researcher and PhD student advisor of the Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and he is also the president of the China Society of Asia-Pacific, director of APEC and of the East Asia cooperation centre of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and director of the Regional Security Research Centre of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

FTA of China, Japan and South Korea to promote industrial restructuring and upgrading
BEIJING, Dec. 19 (Xinhuanet) -- In the “Second China-Japan-South Korea Free Trade Area High-level Civil Forum", Zhang Yunling , a CASS member and director of the CASS Academic Division of International Studies, pointed out that the upgrading and expansion of the industrial links between China, Japan and South Korea have entered a new phase , and the signing of investment agreements will create a more mutually open, economic and legal environment which will facilitate industrial restructuring and upgrading in China, Japan and South Korea.

What is happiness?
BEIJING, Nov. 28(Xinhuanet) -- Not very long ago, the American magazine "Newsweek" published a commentary on happiness. The article claims that according to a survey, despite long-time economic growth in the past, the American people's sense of happiness generally shows a decreasing trend. In comparison to Europeans and particularly Italians, Americans' sense of happiness is far inferior.
