The emerging economies lead the growth of world economy
The Boao Forum for Asia released the first annual report on the development of emerging economies and defined the concept of E11 (11 emerging economies) in 2010. The 2012 Report written by the researchers from the Institution of World Economics and Politics (IWEP) of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) introduces and compares the basic social and economic conditions of the E11 economies and their overall performance and changes in their international ranking. It also analyses the development of and changes in the economic and trade links among the E11 and between the E11 and developed economies before reviewing and analysing recent economic situation and policies of the E11 economies. Based on the above analyses, the overview of this report summarizes the development characteristics of the E11 Economies in the past year and looks into their overall development in 2012.

Sovereign debt crisis and its solution
The developed countries are currently struggling in the mire of the sovereign debt crisis. In terms of the ratio of national debt to GDP, the U.S. has exceeded 100%, while Europe as a whole has already reached 80%. Moreover, the PIIGS (Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Greece and Spain) are close to or over 100%, and Japan is even higher up to 220%.
