AMMAN,Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- Jordan on Thursday announced a plan to face all threats imposed by the deadly Ebola disease, which has already claimed the lives of thousands in West Africa so far.

Jordan, which did not register any case of Ebola since the outbreak this year, has set up a department at the country's largest public hospital to isolate and deal with any possible cases, said Hatem Athroui, spokesperson for the Health Ministry.

The plan includes training medics on ways to deal with Ebola cases, as well as familiarizing them with symptoms, raising awareness about how the disease are transmitted and how prevention mechanisms work.

Jordan also decided to keep a close eye on air travelers at airport, especially those coming from the countries that were hit the most in west Africa such as Liberia.

The epidemic is the most severe outbreak of Ebola Virus Disease since the identification of Ebola Viruses in 1976. The current outbreak has already claimed more than 4,000 lives in West Africa, with Liberia being the most affected country.

Meanwhile, Nigeria, Senegal and Sierra Leon are also facing serious Ebola crisis. Also, a couple of cases and fatalities have already occurred in the United States and some European countries.
