Japan donates medical facility to Ebola-hit countries

MONROVIA, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- Japan has donated 11 ambulances and several medical equipment worth over 800,000 U.S. dollars to Liberia and Sierra Leone to help the fight against Ebola.

An emailed Liberia Foreign Ministry press statement said Liberia will get 400,159 dollars while Sierra Leone will get 397, 749 dollars out of the total amount.

The signing ceremony took place last week at the Embassy of Japan in Accra, Ghana, the statement said.

Kaoru Yoshimura, Ambassador of Japan in Ghana signed for his country while Musu Jatu Ruhle, Charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of Liberia in Ghana and Nasratha Bakie Remoe-Doherty, Charge d' Affaires of the High Commission of Sierra Leone in Ghana signed for their respective countries.

The Japanese Envoy disclosed that Japan will assist the two governments with the procurement and maintenance of the donated items.

He further disclosed that the grant project will be implemented in collaboration between all three governments, the Society for Promotion of Japanese Diplomacy, and DHL Global Forwarding Japan.
