NANJING, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- One new human H7N9 case has been found in east China's Jiangsu Province, the provincial health department confirmed on Tuesday.
The patient, a 59-year-old woman from Wuxi City, was confirmed on Monday night to have been infected. She is in a critical condition.
The patient bought two live chickens from a poultry market and cooked them before she became ill, according to a health department statement.
The new case brings the number of infections in the province this year to 9.
Another H7N9 patient died in Wuxi City early on Saturday morning, the first fatality in the province this year.

No proof of constant H7N9 human-to-human transmission: health authority
BEIJING, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- Current H7N9 cases are scattered and there is no evidence of constant inter-human transmission, according to a paper on H7N9 diagnosis and treatment issued by the National Health and Family Planning Commission on Sunday.
The paper said that the infection source might be the poultry that carry the H7N9 bird flu virus. The H7N9 bird flu could be infected via respiratory spread, close touch with poultry excretion or contact with contaminated environment. Full story
