SKOPJE, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- Kindergartens, elementary and high schools as well as citizens of all ages in the municipalities of Skopje, capital of Macedonia, will be incorporated into a campaign for food safety.
The two-week campaign, launched on Tuesday, is being conducted by the Agency for Food and Veterinary with 1.6 million denars (34,000 U.S. dollars) of financial support.
"Activities are focusing on maintaining personal hygiene, washing, food preservation and preparation, careful reading of declarations, etc," the agency's director Dejan Runtevski told a press conference.
The need of education on food consumption is never enough, according to him.
Gazi Baba municipal mayor Toni Trajkovski said the campaign will also educate the staff in kindergartens and schools in order to apply the project in practice in everyday activities.
"The goal is to raise public awareness on adequate and quality diet," he noted.
