LAGOS, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- Seven people were killed in a road accident in the northern Nigerian city of Kano, the country's Federal Roads Safety Commission (FRSC) reported on Friday.
Nine other persons were injured in the crash that occurred at about 7:30 p.m. local time on Thursday, the commission's state commander Garba Ibrahim told reporters.
He said the accident involved three vehicles, including an articulated vehicle and two Toyota buses.
Ibrahim said the accident involved 26 people while the remains of the dead and those injured were taken to the hospital.
The latest accident happened barely 24 hours after eight persons lost their lives when a private bus collided head-on with a truck in the southeastern state of Edo.
Road accident takes place frequently in Nigeria due to reckless driving, bad road conditions and over packing. More than 1,000 are killed on the road each year in the country.
