THE HAGUE, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- Four people were seriously injured in a fire that broke out earlier Friday morning at a senior residence building in the eastern Dutch city of Nijmegen, the regional crisis team announced.
About 30 people, mostly seniors, had to be treated because they had inhaled smoke when the fire broke out in a snack among seniors' apartments. Six are hospitalized, according to the regional crisis center.
Over 100 people have been evacuated and the area is cordoned off. The evacuated residents do not yet know whether they can get in Friday to pick up some stuff and it is sure that they will not sleep at home on Friday since investigation is still going on, said the national broadcaster NOS.
The scene broadcast by NOS show that the fire was extinguished, firemen and engines are still in the area.
